B3.5SM Waterfowl Hunting Series

An iconic Italian design returns to North America!

The Breda B3.5SM boasts possibly the most recognizable and most sought-after inertia shotgun design of the 20th century.

Since the visionary Bruno Civolani patented his inertia action with rotating bolt in the 1960s, and licensed it to the newly formed Benelli Armi Spa, of which Breda was an owner, no shotgun design has had a greater impact on the sport of waterfowl hunting. It remains the ultimate choice for American waterfowl hunters seeking a reliable and high-performance 12ga 3.5" super magnum shotgun.

The design maketed marketed by the Benelli Armi SPA brand as the "Super Black Eagle" and imported to the United States beginning in 1991 by H&K and later by Benelli USA. The design of the Breda B3.5SM has been refined and improved since that time to meet the demands of today's most challenging hunting environments, while retaining the revolutionary features that contributed to the success of the legacy platform. This modern edition is designed to handle the powerful 12-gauge Super Magnum 89 mm (3 1/2") cartridges, while also being compatible with the less powerful 76 mm (3") and 70 mm (2 3/4") cartridges, providing a high degree of versatility for various hunting situations from waterfowl to small game.

Arguably the most highly regarded feature of the B3.5SM is Breda's precision drilled barrel made of formula "Acciao Breda" carbon alloy steel. This specially engineered steel alloy offers a subtle elasticity that enhances barrel harmonics and minimizes barrel expansion during intense shooting sessions; a problem that is common on inferior hammer forged barrels as well as hammer forged barrels that have been low temperature stress relieved.

The Breda precision drilled barrels are renowned for performing exceptionally well under heavy repeated firing, in which the barrels become extremely hot. Breda precision drilled barrels surpass the benchmark by maintaining dimensional concentricity and thus maintaining the densest and most uniform shot patterns possible with a super heated barrel.

The B3.5SM benefits from the revolutionary 2-piece receiver design, an innovation that Breda introduced in 1947 on the Breda 1001 Shotgun. The receiver of the B3.5SM is crafted in a painstaking multi-step process using state-of-the-art laser and machining technologies, ensuring the highest degree of accuracy in dimensions. Again, specially selected materials are used for the receiver including Italian sourced, high carbon steel for the upper receiver and a solid billet of 7075-T6 military spec, aerospace grade aluminum alloy for the lower receiver.

The synthetic versions of the B3.5SM use a stock and forend made from Rilsan fiberglass reinforced resin, which is tough, durable, scratch-resistant, and impervious to humidity. This material ensures the shotgun can withstand the harsh conditions encountered during waterfowl hunting.

The matte black finish on the lower receiver is achieved by a deep double anodizing process with ceramic embellishments that are applied by hand and then set in an oven. The upper receiver and barrel come standard with a finish of matte black Cerakote polymer ceramic finish which complements the black stock and forend which is finished in a soft touch coating for better grip. This combination, creating a sleek and stealthy appearance.

For hunters who prefer a shotgun that blends seamlessly with their surroundings, Breda offers the Camo version of the B3.5SM in both the Mossy Oak Bottomland and Realtree Max-7 Camouflage. After the hydro-dip camouflage film is applied, the gun is sealed with a matte clear coat protectant sealer to protect the gun's components from the elements as well as seal the camouflage film.

With its proven reliability, exceptional performance, and ability to handle a wide range of cartridges, the Breda B3.5SM Black is the go-to choice for American waterfowl hunters who demand nothing but the best from their shotgun. Whether you're hunting in flooded timber, open marshes, or any other challenging environment, the B3.5SM will deliver the results you need to make every hunt a success.
